Haha this makes some sense (and may even be funny) if you read below...
I don't know if any of you remember this part of the game (I know I didn't) but I just replayed Turnabout Goodbyes. At the very end when Edgeworth is cleared, he tries to say thank you to Phoenix and fails miserabley. Then Gumshoe comes in saying "WHOOOOOOP!" and Maya says that Edgeworth should be more like that. Later in the credits Gumshoe talks about how Edgeworth greeted him at New Years and how it made him happy.
